Federated Identity

Federated Identity is the second distinct phase digital identities have gone through. Federated identity consolidates our digital identities with a central provider.

With Federated Identity, users no longer have to remember unique usernames and passwords for every service they use, instead they can authenticate once with a digital platform, for instance, Google or Facebook, and then use their Google or Facebook identity to access other websites and services.
